Does your child....
If your child does not meet the above profile you might want to give thought to a Kindergarten Ready class in order for your child to have more time to develop emotionally and academically. Kindergarten Ready will be taught by a certified early childhood teacher. Saxon Math and Saxon Phonics will be used. If your child is developmentally ready, St. Paul's goal is to have your child reading at the end of the school year. Kindergarten Ready students will also have Chapel, Montessori, Music, Spanish and Woodworking classes on a weekly basis. Literacy Skills -We use the Saxon Phonics program, as well as, whole language. It gives the students a solid foundation as beginning reader and writers. Kid Writing will be used as a daily writer's workshop. Math -We also use the Saxon Math program. It is a "success-oriented" program. It is a hands on approach with manipulatives and materials to facilitate learning. Science/Social Studies -Each week, a different theme will be studied. Some topics are science oriented, while others place more emphasis on social studies. Some of our units are Bats, Babies, Penguins and Space. Workjobs -These are activities in which students practice independently. The activities target listening, fine motor skills, art, writing, math and science. Child Directed Centers -At various intervals during the day, students have the opportunity to go to a center of their choice. They may choose from Library, Dramatic Play, Blocks and Puzzles, Art, Creative Writing, Math, Science/Discovery, Computer, Language Arts, Music and Montessori. |
